Ames, IA - VisionBank is going to – and dropping from – new heights in support of youth programming
As part of VisionBank’s ongoing commitment to community and building opportunities for youth, one of its own is rappelling down a 7 ½ story building in the Ames Campustown area to support the Boys and Girls Club of Story County (BGCSC) Over the Edge event on Friday, October 27.
Thrill-seekers and fund-raisers from Story County have been raising funds for the BGCSC after-school and summer programming for youth ages 6 to 18. Each person raising at least $1000 will get the adventure of a lifetime as they secure the opportunity to go “Over the Edge” and scale down The Edge luxury apartment building during the day-long event.
VisionBank Marketing and Communications Officer Eve Lederhouse will be the representative rappeller for the Central Iowa financial institution. Although Lederhouse has pursued other adventures before, it’s the cause that’s motivating the rappel more than the thrill.
“VisionBank is all about our communities, and there’s little that’s more important to us than providing a bright future for our kids. We’re often involved in financial education in our local schools, but an opportunity to support the Boys and Girls Club that does such amazing work to help kids outside of school is just as important,” says Lederhouse.
Lederhouse is scheduled to make her descent at 10:00 and the other rappellers will make their descents throughout the day. All rappellers will go down on the west side of The Edge building with harnesses, a professional rappelling crew, and plenty of warm clothes as the forecast calls for highs only in the 30’s for Friday. But the events – and adrenaline – going on throughout the day should keep rappellers and observers warm as they will also be entertained with games, Zap! Laser Tag, food trucks and more.
The Edge is located at 2311 Chamberlain Street in Ames. The Over the Edge event will go from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with rappelling descents scheduled continuously throughout the day.
