Scam Alert: If you own a home, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll need a contractor at one point or another. Unfortunately, finding a good one is easier said than done. According to a new study, one in 10 Americans has fallen victim to a contractor scam. The types of scams run the gamut, but baby boomers tend to be the most vulnerable, with 15% saying they’ve been a victim. Millennials were second-most likely to be victimized, at 13%.

Bob Grathwohl, President/CEO of VisionBank of Iowa, is pleased to announce the promotions of:

  • Doug Thompson- Market President

  • Troy Strother-Executive Vice President

  • Nick Lentz- Vice President

Doug Thompson-Market President

Thompson will continue to office at VisionBank’s South Marshall office at 1704 S. Marshall Street and will be responsible for managing the offices in Boone and Ogden. Thompson, who has over 30 years of commercial and agricultural banking experience, has spent the last six (6) months as SVP-Commercial Manager. Doug and his wife, Ginny, live in Boone. He is active in several organizations including the Boone Rotary Club and the Iowa State Alumni Association.

 

Troy Strother-Executive Vice President/Sr. Credit Manager

Strother started with VisionBank in Ames as a Senior Lender in 2003, then moved to Grimes where he worked as the Senior Credit Manager for the Grimes market and currently he serves as the Senior Credit Manager where he oversees the overall direction of credit activities for the bank. Troy has strong ties to Central Iowa as a lifetime resident of Boone and Story County. Troy is a graduate of Iowa State University and the Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, CO. Troy has been in banking for 16 years and has held a variety of positions from Teller to Branch Manager to Commercial Lender to now EVP-Senior Credit Manager.

 

Nick Lentz-Vice President/Commercial Banker

Lentz has spent the last five (5) years as Assistant Vice President/Commercial Banker at VisionBank’s Ogden office. As Vice President, Lentz will continue to office at VisionBank’s Ogden office at 217 W Mulberry Street. Lentz will continue to provide agricultural and commercial lending services to the Ogden community.

Nick and his family live in Ogden. He is the President of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce and is active in the St. John’s Church, Ogden Medical Clinic Committee and several other Ogden community groups.
